Andrea Last

Andrea sits on a number of committees at the Institute, including the Babraham Executive Committee, where she can make sure our EDI work is fully integrated. She works full time remotely with flexible hours and has had three maternity leaves.

Michael Norman

Mike represents Public Engagement on the e4s committee and leads a number of initiatives that work to ensure equitable access to Institute science and programming. These include the Research Access Programme for undergraduate placements for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the BioInspire programme that actively reaches out to public audiences who have historically been underserved by science and engagement work.

As someone who started his research group during the pandemic, Rahul recognises the value in fostering a flexible and compassionate working environment, tailored to each individual on a case-by-case basis. Rahul’s group holds the principles of EDI as a core value across career stages, with several members championing Institute-wide initiatives in co-ordination with e4s and the Public Engagement Team.

Simon Jones

As Chief Operating Officer, Simon helps ensure our initiatives are beneficial to all staff, especially those in non-science roles. He has worked flexibly for childcare purposes in the past and understands the importance of an inclusive workplace.
